The main goal of the DataPLANTxNorth project is to promote the tools and services of the DataPLANT consortium in Northern Germany by focusing on the Annotated Research Context (ARC), as a tool specifically tailored to the creation of FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) Datasets. Based on the ISA Abstract Model, ARCs allow research data together with metadata and data documentation to be organised in a structured folder hierarchy and facilitates easy publication.

The analysis of existing ARCs will create a basis for the development of training material and workshops to increase the awareness of DataPLANT’s services as well as to promote the usage of their tools in the yet untapped region of Northern Germany. By working closely together with existing research data management (RDM) infrastructures, DataPLANTxNorth will create a network from interested members of selected working groups to keep DataPLANT awareness high even beyond the project’s end. Additionally, ecophysiological research groups will be encouraged to use ARCs and reap the benefits of DataPLANT’s expertise in RDM.

Our goals in this project

• Analysis of existing ARCs
• Collaboration and network building with relevant initiatives (DataNord, VBIO, FDM-NDS, etc.)
• Creation of new ARCs for selected working groups
• Organisation and execution of workshops, as well as the provision of open educational resources for RDM and DataPLANT services.
• Dissemination of DataPLANT services within adjacent scientific disciplines in Northern Germany.
